- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical period.
- In his early years, Wolfgang’s father was his teacher.
- While Wolfgang was young, his family made several European ean journeys in which he and Nannerl (his sister) performed as child prodigies.
- When he was eight years old, Mozart wrote his first symphony.
- Despite his short life, his rapid pace of composition and proficiency from an early age resulted in more than 800 works representing virtually every classical genre of his time.
- Many of these compositions are acknowledged as pinnacles of the symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral repertoire. Mozart is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music.
- The marriage of Mozart and Constanze took place in an atmosphere of crisis.
- Mozart faced a very difficult task getting permission for the marriage from his father, Leopold.
- The couple were finally married on 4 August 1782 in St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the day before his father’s consenting letter arrived in the mail. The couple had six children, of whom only two survived infancy.
His most famous works include:
- The Requiem in D minor, K. (KV) 626
