In 2019, she started her master’s in composition and theory as a theorist with Füsun Köksal İncirlioğlu. During her master’s, she also studied with Paolo Susanni. In 2022, she went to Sibelius Academy / University of the Arts Helsinki and continued with Lauri Surpää. She also participated in workshops with many different musicians such as Thomas Forrest Kelly, Daphne Leong,… She successfully completed her master’s degree in 2024.
She is very interested in cinema and has written various articles on this subject in many courses she has taken, mostly in Turkish. She is currently interested in ‘Topic Theory’ and continues her studies on this subject.
She took part in many different teams for festivals. In 2019, she played at Izmir Jazz Festival and took part in the organization team. In 2022, she also played and took part in the organization team at Izmir New Music Days organized by Füsun Köksal. In 2023, she was also in the team and took care of the many various tasks required for the festival.
In 2023, together with Ebru Öpöz and Seda Gencan Avşar, they founded the group ‘Trio Bagliore’ supported by Olten Philharmonic. They do concerts regularly for different purposes.
Özde Çalışkan is a flutist and theorist based in Izmir/Türkiye. In 2004, she started her art career with ballet and in high school, in 2009, she switched her major to music and started to play flute. Throughout her high school and university years, she studied with teachers from different écoles, her first teacher had graduated from Conservatory Marcel Dupré and he embraced French culture and techniques.
Her second major teacher had graduated from Hanover University of Music, Drama, and Media and he embraced mostly Germanic style. After university, she went to Vienna, in 2016, and lived there for two years. During that time she studied at MDW – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna – with Daniela Lahner.
In 2018, she returned to Izmir and took classes from the Jazz Department at Yaşar University. She had the opportunity to work with people who understand and interpret music differently. She performed with musicians such as Timuçin Şahin, Sean Rickman, Reggie Washington, Alp Turaç, and Enric Monfort.
During her Bachelor studies, she also worked as a teacher. She worked with very different age groups, between 3 to 50. She is an LCM-certified teacher and has trained many of her students in this field.
